Software update Niko’s video doorbell

Date: 04/04/2023

A new software update is available for the 2-wire IP Access Control and the Niko Access Control app.

How to update?

  • The upgrade of the system itself has to be done manually.

This can be done in two ways:

    • either via the touchscreen: go to Menu > Settings > Update > Start update
    • or via the app: go to Settings > Upgrade

Watch out: You can only upgrade the system once. That means you either do it via the touchscreen or via the app. You don't have to do it both ways.

  • Upgrading the app on your smartphone often happens automatically. If not, you can do it manually via the app store.

You can check the version via Menu > Info > System info - the latest version of the system is build 230318 and for the app v2.0

What’s new?

  • With the new release you’ll be able to see a snapshot of your visitors in your call history in the app, even when you are not at home. On top of that, you have the option to delete call history in the app if you want to.

  • When you are using the peek-outside function, you can now decide to turn on the sound, both on the app and the indoor touchscreen.

  • There is a new ringtone option (‘ding dong’) and you can change the volume and the microphone settings of the outdoor unit’s speaker.

  • Control up to 6 different door locks. You can give each one a specific name and open them all from your phone and your indoor screen. To ensure you don’t open one by mistake, you’ll receive a pop up to confirm that you do want to open a lock. You can also adapt how long – up to 60 seconds – the door lock stays open.

  • Control multiple access systems with the same e-mail account. This functionality means you can switch between access systems for different locations within the app – for instance your home and your office – without having to log out and log into another account.

  • Change your name plate’s backlight settings. In the settings of the app, you’ll be able to turn off your name plate’s backlight during the day. You can also choose to adjust the backlight in function of the camera’s light measurements or in function of sunrise and sunset times.

The new updated software version is available for the following operating systems: Android 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13; and iOS 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16.
