Step 5

Connecting products to Niko Home Control

Add the connected switching socket outlet

Please note: If the connected dimmer is closer to the wireless smart hub, make sure to add it first.

Add connected dimmer

A

Navigate using the menu (≡) to Settings and click on Devices.

B

Select Socket outlets from the list of devices that you can add.

C

Click on Add socket outlet.

D

Indicate the room in which the socket outlet is located.

Choose an existing room or add a new one.

E

Press the small push button of the socket outlet briefly 3 times in order to send a signal to the Niko Home app, so that you can add the socket outlet.

  • The socket outlets must be added one by one manually. This may seem like hard work, but then you know exactly which socket outlet you are adding and you can allocate an appropriate name in the app.

After pressing the small push button 3 times, the blue LED on the connected switching socket outlet will flash. This can take 3 minutes. Once the connection has been made, the socket outlet's blue LED will light up continuously for four seconds. You then go automatically to the next screen in the app.

The socket outlet has now been added.

F

Give each socket outlet a clear and appropriate name so that you find it easily again later. To do so, click on the Pencil on the right.

Then click on Ready and finally on Continue.

G

Click on Ready. Your settings are then sent to the wireless smart hub.

This may take a few minutes. During this step, your Niko Home Control installation may react a bit slower than usual.

H

The socket outlet will now appear in the Control navigation tab. You can use the app to command the socket outlet by clicking on it in this screen.

Add the connected dimmer

A

Navigate using the menu (≡) to Settings and click on Devices.

B

Select Switches from the list of devices that you can add.

C

Click on Add switch.

D

Confirm in which room the dimmer is located.

Choose an existing room or add a new one.

E

Press the dimmer button in the middle of the dimmer briefly 3 times in order to send a signal to the Niko Home app, so that you can add the dimmer.

  • You must add the dimmers manually one by one. This may seem like hard work, but then you know exactly which dimmer you are adding and you can allocate an appropriate name in the app.

Always start with the connected dimmer. You can add any traditional push buttons later on.

After pressing the small dim button 3 times, the blue LED on the dimmer will flash. This can take 5 minutes. Once the connection has been made, the dimmer's blue LED will light up continuously for four seconds. You then go automatically to the next screen in the app.

F

Set the behaviour of the LED for this dimmer.

  • Tick LED if you want feedback whenever this dimmer is switched on. The LED acts as an informant: the white LED lights up whenever the associated lamp is on. To do this you need a finishing set with a lens. Then click on Continue.
  • Or tick No LED if you don't want the LED to light up when it is switched on. Then click on Continue.

Tip: You can always alter the LEDs' behaviour later on.

The dimmer and accompanying lamps have now been added.

G

Give each lamp and dimmer a clear and appropriate name so that you find it easily again later. To do so, click on the Pencil on the right.

Then click on Ready and finally on Continue.

H

If more than one switch commands this lamp, you can also add the remaining switches (these are the traditional push buttons).

Once you have added the last switch, click on No, continue with the set-up

Add no further switch(es)

If you wish to add another switch, click on Yes, add another switch.

a

Add the traditional push button(s) and connect them with the Niko Home Control installation in the same way as the connected dimmer.

b

Confirm whether this is a push button with one or two buttons.

c

Then you can also give these switch(es) an appropriate name.

d

You will be asked again if you are using other switches in the current setup.

You can add each traditional push button individually in a switching and allocate a name, but these cannot be programmed individually later on.

If you want to add a new switch, the app starts by asking whether this switch is already on the list. Click on Create switch.

I

Click on Ready once you have added all switches for this light point. Your settings are then sent to the wireless smart hub.

This may take a few minutes. During this step, your Niko Home Control installation may react a bit slower than usual.

J

In the navigation tab Command, the lamp now appears which is connected to the connected dimmer. You can now (also) command it using this screen.

Hold and press the lamp in order to dim the light using the app. You can then set the dimming level using the sliding adjuster.

Add the wireless motion detector

A

In the navigation tab Command, select the room in which you can find the motion detector. Click on Add and then on Add device.

B

Select Motion detectors from the list of devices that you can add.

C

Click on Add motion detector.

D

Place the button battery in the motion detector. The Niko Home app will automatically add the motion detector.

If this is not done automatically, you can also add the motion detector using the small button next to the battery. To do so, follow the instructions below.

  • You must add the motion detectors manually one by one. This may seem like hard work, but then you know exactly which motion detector you are adding and you can allocate an appropriate name in the app.

a

If the Niko Home app does not automatically add the motion detector, press and hold the small button next to the battery for a minimum of 3 seconds to send a signal to the app.

b

After pressing the small button next to the battery for 3 seconds, the red LED on the front of the motion detector will start flashing. This will last for approx. 45 seconds.

c

It can take 2 minutes for the connection to be made. You then go automatically to the next screen in the app.

d

The motion detector has now been added.

Tip: Give the motion detector a clear and appropriate name so that you can find it easily again later. To do so, click on the Pencil on the right.

E

Click on Continue in order to program the motion detection.

F

Select the lamps and devices that you want switched on when movement is detected and click on Continue.

G

Your motion detection has now been set. Click on Advanced settings in order to modify the standard switch-off delay.

The switch-off delay is the time after the last detected motion after which the lamps and devices switch off automatically. This is set to 1 minute by default.

H

Set the desired number of hours, minutes and seconds. Finally, click on Ready.

Your settings are sent to the wireless smart hub. This may take a few minutes.

I

You can now (also) activate the motion detection in the app.

Please note: You can switch off the lights and devices manually in the app at any time after they have been switched on by the motion detector. So you don't have to wait until the set time has elapsed.
