Unlock the full intelligence of your lighting system
What if the key to a smarter building was already installed? The DALI-2 lighting management system generates valuable data, but most of it goes unused. The DALI bridge unlocks that intelligence, seamlessly connecting your lighting management system to a BMS and helping prepare your building for future sustainability requirements.
Seamless integration
Connect our proven DALI‑2 lighting management system with third‑party BMS via Modbus (TCP/IP) or with MOTIV Building Control over MQTT TCP/IP — letting both systems excel at what they do best. Essential lighting control on one hand, data exchange on the other.
Scalability across any building
Scale effortlessly from single‑floor projects to large multi‑zone commercial buildings thanks to two independent DALI channels and dual Ethernet interfaces.
Autonomous control
Operate lighting autonomously at room level, responding to presence, daylight and conditions without depending on the BMS. This decentralised setup boosts reliability: issues stay confined to a single room instead of affecting an entire line.
Smart data & compliance
Gain access to rich occupancy, energy and diagnostic data already captured by your detectors — supporting smarter building operation and compliance with EU regulations like the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
EU-compliant from day one
MOTIV DALI bridge supports the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EU 2024/1275), including energy reporting, occupancy monitoring and centralised lighting control – all via the BMS.
Lighting that works on its own terms
The P40/M40 lighting installation operates independently of the BMS. If the BMS goes offline, the lighting continues to function. A fault on a single DALI line remains contained and reported and does not plunge the entire building into darkness.
Lighting intelligence built in
Most advanced lighting functions, including daylight control and human centric lighting, are handled directly by our DALI-2 lighting management system. This reduces the amount of lighting logic that needs to be configured in the BMS, making commissioning faster, less complex and less dependent on specialist integration expertise.
Familiar way of working
Installers use the same detectors, the same Detector Tool app, and the same SnapFit process they already know. DALI bridge adds connectivity without adding complexity.
A clean handover between trades
Electricians commission the lighting. System integrators handle the BMS. The DALI bridge is the clear, standard interface between them — built on Modbus, the protocol every integrator already knows.
Adding intelligence to your building by connecting management systems does not mean the entire ecosystem will become more complex. On the contrary, the MOTIV DALI bridge makes work easier for everyone involved.
-
The DALI bridge adds intelligence and flexibility to everyday building operation. Lighting is automatically optimised at room level — presence‑based, daylight‑aware and energy‑efficient — while the BMS provides occupancy insights, energy data, diagnostics and direct control when needed. Easier energy management, smoother maintenance, and consistently comfortable lighting.
-
MOTIV DALI bridge finally defines a clean boundary between the lighting management system with P40/M40 DALI-2 master detectors and BMS. Lighting remains a standalone, self‑managing system; the BMS connects through a standard Modbus interface. Clear scopes, clear ownership, fewer disputes — and a faster, more defensible specification process.
-
Installation stays familiar and straightforward. Detectors mount quickly with SnapFit, commissioning is wireless via Bluetooth® and the Niko Detector Tool app - no BMS expertise required. Once lighting is running, the DALI bridge becomes the clean handover point for the integrator, who then configures the third-party BMS.
Is the DALI bridge connected to MOTIV Building Control? Then it becomes even easier. The programming software is so easy to use that installers can configure the system independently, without involving a system integrator. -
No more essential lighting solutions like daylight control or human centric lighting inside the BMS. Integrators can focus on system setup, data management and user interfaces, while the BMS receives exactly the data and control it needs via standard Modbus. Less risk, cleaner specs, quicker commissioning.
