Living and working inside an architectural statement
In the green surroundings of Dworp, architect Adriaan De Beenhouwer of db architecten created a place that truly reflects his way of living and working. This carefully balanced combination of home and office has a clear layout and is tailored to his daily rhythm. "Designing your own home is the ultimate expression of bespoke architecture."
The distinctive villa unfolds across two levels; the office sits at street level, while the living area is positioned just beneath the roof, almost floating above the garden and swimming pool. This smart piece of architectural creativity maximises the views while drawing daylight deep into the home.

Intuitive living, down to the finest detail
Inside the home, Niko Home Control plays a quiet yet central role. From the multi-button switches with LEDs and comfort sensors to strategically placed touchscreens,
the system acts as the villa’s central nervous system, seamlessly integrating technology into everyday life. Discreet detectors add another layer of convenience while also improving energy efficiency.
A carefully considered mix of Niko Intense white and Niko Intense matt black finishings ensures that every element blends aesthetically into the interior design. “We integrate Niko into many of our projects,” says Adriaan. “Quite simply, everything makes sense; in form, function, and finishing.”
Smart comfort on the outside
“Outside, we mainly wanted to focus on comfort and safety,” explains Adriaan. “Niko makes that balance possible, without adding visual noise.”
Motion detectors automatically switch on lighting, while the Niko Home Control external video unit provides smart access control, and splash-proof Niko Hydro socket outlets around the swimming pool provide safe outdoor power. Through this, Niko contributes to the overall concept not only inside the home, but outside as well.
