Colour and character at the coast
Ceramic artist and textile designer Isabelle Neyt had never really felt a connection to the Belgian coast, until Oostduinkerke and a new-build flat without a sea view unexpectedly stirred something within her.
For the first time in her life, Isabelle didn’t have to renovate, but could design the interior from scratch. “The foundation was already in place, and I could interpret the rest my own way,” she recalls. Her approach was personal and distinctive. Colourful, but never overwhelming.

A canvas for stories
In this vibrant flat, every object is given the space to speak for itself. Artworks, ceramics, little finds and personal pieces set the tone and give the interior its own unique character. The high-gloss veneer wall, in particular, plays a key role. “The wall almost feels like a canvas,” enthuses Isabelle. “Everything you hang on it comes to life again.”
That’s why she chose calm as the basis. The Niko Intense white switches and socket outlets complement the white walls and light-coloured marble, without detracting from the colours and objects in the home. The white finishing ensures balance; visible where necessary, understated where appropriate.

Thoughtfully designed from the ground up
Isabelle came into contact with Niko through Rietveld, the total project of which her flat is part. From the outset, the focus was on local partners and high-quality finishings that take the whole project to a higher level. “I knew the basics were just right. Everything has been carefully chosen, and you can really feel that.”
For the switching material, Isabelle initially opted for an understated look with Niko Intense white. She realises now how other finishings could have blended just as nicely with her interior. “Colourful switches would also look great here,” she says. “I’m not afraid of colour or character either.”
If she had to choose again, Isabelle would opt for Niko Intense anthracite coated in the bathroom, as a subtle match for the handles, washbasin and shower tap. In the kitchen, Niko Intense sterling coated would be a bold complement to the chrome worktop.
