Step 7

Program settings

Once you have connected the devices with the app to your Niko Home Control installation, you can start programming.

You can program the connected switching socket outlet to automatically turn off after a certain time.

You can also program routines. These are the rules when setting up a range of actions. Discover which routines are available in the online manuals of other products and in the app.

Setting a timer for a socket outlet

You can set a timer for a connected switching socket outlet to automatically turn off after a certain time. This way, you can save energy or make batteries last longer.

A

In the navigation tab Command, select the room in which you can find the socket outlet that you wish to set.

Example: You have a connected switching socket outlet in the garage that you want to use to charge the battery of an electric bike until it is full (e.g. after 3 hours and 30 minutes on average).

B

Select the switching socket outlet by pressing and holding it.

C

Click on the pencil top right and then (on the black screen) on Devices.

D

The app now shows the settings to command this socket outlet. Activate Switch off automatically by sliding the button to the right (the background of the button will turn yellow).

E

Set the desired number of hours, minutes and seconds. Then, click on Ready.

Your settings are sent to the wireless smart hub. This may take a few minutes.

F

You can now switch on the connected switching socket outlet from the app, after which the timer will begin to run. Once the set time has elapsed the socket outlet will switch off automatically.

Please note: You can switch off the socket outlet manually at any time after a timer has started. So you don't have to wait until the set time has passed.

Program an alert mode

You can program a routine, such as an alert mode allowing you to open roll-down shutters with the push of one button via the app or to make lights flash. That way, you can alert the neighbours or scare off any burglars.

Note: You can also similarly program other routines by following the instructions in the app. More information about routines can be found in the eco system.

A

In the navigation tab Command, select the room in which you want to create the routine. Click on Add and then on Add routine.

B

Select alert mode from the list of routines.

C

Click on create alert mode.

D

Give this routine a name, adapt the icon if necessary and click on Continue.

E

You can choose a switch with which to control this routine or you can opt to do it using the app alone.

You will see a warning if you select a switch that already has been allocated another function. If you want to use the switch for this routine, the original function of the switch will be overridden.

Example: In this case, you can also use the connected dimmer without any problems as, in previous steps, it was set that the connected lamp (the landing light) is also controlled by the wireless motion detector.

F

If necessary, select any other lamps that should still be left on once you have activated the alert mode. Then click on Next.

G

Select the lamps that must flash once you switch on the alert mode. Then click on Continue.

Example: You can add a desk lamp that you plug into the connected socket outlet in the desk on the street side.

Please note: If you expand the Niko Home Control installation with other products at a later date, you can add additional lights and devices to this routine.

H

Select any other devices that should be switched on and off during the alert mode.

I

Your alert mode has now been created. Click on Ready to send these settings to the wireless smart hub.

This may take a few minutes.

J

You can now (also) activate the routine in the app.

K

Tip: To avoid accidentally activating the alert mode, you can set the button of the wireless switch to be held down longer in order to activate this routine.

Navigate using the menu (≡) to Settings and click on Devices.

L

Select Switches from the list of devices. Select the dimmer which you have linked to the routine.

M

Click on Is used once.

Under Control method select the option press and hold. Adapt the time if you only wish the alert mode to be switched on after pressing the control button for longer than 1 second. Click on Ready and finally on the cross at the top right.

N

Your settings are sent to the wireless smart hub. This may take a few minutes.

Program a 'basic all-off' routine

If you have added one or more traditional push button(s) to your installation (sold separately), you can also set a routine for them. You can program a 'basic all-off' routine with which you can switch off all the lights and switch off all the devices with one push of the button or via the app. For instance, this could be useful when going to bed.

Skip routine programming

A

Use Command to navigate to the room in which you want to create the routine. Click on Add and then on Add routine.

B

Select 'basic all-off' from the list of routines.

C

Click on create 'basic all-off'.

D

Give this routine a name, adapt the icon if necessary and click on Continue.

E

You can choose a switch with which to control this 'basic all-off' routine or you can opt to do it using the app alone.

You will see a warning if you select a switch that already has been allocated another function. If you want to use the switch for this routine, the original function of the switch will be overridden.

F

Select any lamps that need to stay on longer or appliances that need to stay on after enabling the 'all-off' routine.

G

Select the devices that must switch off when you activate the 'basic all-off' routine. Then click on Continue.

Tip: In an 'all-off' routine, do not use socket outlets that you never want to switch off, such as the socket outlet of a refrigerator or freezer.

Please note: If you expand the Niko Home Control installation with other products at a later date, you can add additional lights and devices to this routine.

H

Your 'basic all-off' routine has now been created. Click on Ready to send these settings to the wireless smart hub.

This may take a few minutes.

I

You can now (also) activate the 'all-off' routine in the app.
