Step 5

Program the connected dimmer

Once you have connected the dimmer with the app to your Niko Home Control installation, you can start programming.

You can set the connected dimmer to command light points which are not physically connected to the dimmer.

You can also program routines. These are the rules when setting up a range of actions. For example, you can program a scene so that, in one press of a control button (or using the app), the lighting above the dining table is dimmed to a particular level. Find out in the app which other routines are available.

Give dimmers another function

You can now also give the connected dimmer and appropriate traditional push buttons another function than switching the connected lamps.

A

In the navigation tab Command you select the room in which you can find the dimmer which you would like to give a new function.

Example: You have two dimmers which command the lamp above the dining table, but you only need one. The second dimmer can therefore be given another function.

B

Select the lamp that is physically connected to this dimmer by pressing and holding.

C

Click on the pencil top right and then on Devices (in the black screen).

D

The app now displays a list with the switches that command this lamp. Click again on the pencil beside Is controlled by.

E

The dimmer that you want to give another function to can now be disconnected from the lamp by deselecting it.
Then click on Ready and finally on the cross top right.

Your settings are sent to the wireless smart hub. This may take a few minutes .

F

Select the room in which you can find the lamp that you wish to command with the dimmer that you just disconnected.

G

Select the lamp by pressing and holding and click on the pencil top right. Then click on Devices.

Example: You want to use the newly available dimmer in the dining room to command the lighting in the kitchen.

H

Click on the pencil beside Is controlled by to modify the switches.

I

Select the dimmer which from now on must (also) command this lamp.
Then click Then click on Ready and finally on the cross top right.

Your settings are sent to the wireless smart hub. This may take a few minutes .

Program a scene

You can program a scene in which you set the lighting, roll-down shutters and other devices simultaneously to a particular position with one press of a control button (or using the app).

Note: you can also program other routines in a similar fashion by following the instructions in the app. More information about routines can be found in the eco system.

A

Use Command to navigate to the room in which you want to create the routine .

B

Click on Add and then on Add routine.

C

Choose scenes from the list with routines.

D

Click on create scenes.

E

Give this routine a name, adapt the icon if necessary and click on Continue.

F

You can choose a switch or dimmer with which to command this scene or you can opt to do it using the app alone.

You will see a warning if you select a switch that already has been allocated another function. After all, if you want to use this switch for this routine, the original function of the switch will be overridden.

Click immediately on Continue if you do not wish to set up a switch .

G

Select the devices that you wish to include in the scene.

Example: You can create a scene for bedtime, whereby you dim the lighting in the bedroom and put the roll-down shutters down.

H

Click on the name of the dimmable lamp to modify the settings. This is where you set the desired position for when activating this scene. Click on Ready.

Example: You can dim the lamp above the dining table to 60% by sliding the sliding adjuster to the left.

I

Click on Next and then on Ready. Your settings are then sent to the wireless smart hub.

This may take a few minutes. During this step your Niko Home Control installation may react more slowly than you are used to.

K

You can now (also) activate the scene in the app.

Finished!

Test your Niko Home Control installation and enjoy the convenience that you have added to your home.
