  • Dimming light sources allows you to control the light intensity of a luminaire or lamps. There are two reasons for installing a dimmer in your home or building:

  • No. Only dimmable light sources can be dimmed with a phase control dimmer.

  • If you are looking for LED lighting and want to be able to dim the light intensity, do verify a few items before or during the purchase. Use the tips below to make the best choice of LED lamps or lighting...

  • If you want to dim lamps or light fittings, Niko has a range of options. Overview:

  • Lamps can sometimes be seen to flicker if a lighting circuit consisting of low-voltage halogen lamps, a ferromagnetic or electronic transformer and a dimmer is converted into a lighting circuit with 12 V LED lamps. Below are three recommendations that will help avoid flickering when using low-voltage LED lamps.

  • A 2-wire dimmer is usually installed during renovation projects in homes that were built before 1991...

  • With a 2-wire dimmer, you connect the phase conductor to the electricity grid. The switching wire goes to the lamp, luminaire or light fitting which you reconnect to the grid with the neutral conductor...

  • A 2-wire dimmer is dependent on the connected light source for its energy supply. A quality lamp, luminaire or light fitting is therefore important. When LED lamps are of less good quality there could be visible effects.

  • Most Niko dimmers can be connected to multiple control points. Overview:

  • The number of LED lamps that you can connect to a dimmer depends on the maximum electric load that the dimmer can control.

  • Yes. This is possible because the current generation of LED lamps, primary filament lamps, generate fewer peaks in power...

  • Because the universal dimmers from Niko can dim all types of lamp, lamp profiles have been developed.

  • The letters are a way of choosing your dimmer and relate to the lighting source's electrical profile. The electrical profile of a light source determines the way in which the light intensity can be controlled by a dimmer.

  • Every dimmer has a minimal required power and a maximum permissible power which is expressed in watts (W), for loads that respond in a resistive way, or volt-ampere (VA) for inductive and capacitive loads.

  • No problem. The dimmer is still working. When your dimmer has automatic thermal protection, it will be triggered when the internal temperature of the dimmer is too high.

  • Power Line Communication (PLC) is a tone signal technology that is used by energy suppliers to control large groups of electricity consumers remotely.

  • In order to suppress the disruption from PLC signals, Niko has added a PLC interference suppression into the range of universal dimmers...

  • If your lamps or luminaire flicker and you are sure it is due to PLC signals, then you can choose between the following options:

  • This situation may occur with Niko modular dimmer 330-00701 when it is not connected to the Niko 1-10V rotary control 310-0110x...

  • DALI is an open, digital standard that is used worldwide to control lighting...

  • A DALI fitting contains internal digital lighting control. You need a DALI control to control the light intensity of this fitting.

  • Depending on your version of Windows, you can manually change the COM port settings (assigned to the USB/serial adaptor) by following the steps listed below.
