With the launch of the Niko Home app version 2.23 and the Niko Home Control programming software version 2.23, we can proudly present to you the following upgrades.
-
We highly value your online safety and security. That’s why we commit ourselves to continuously update our products according to the newest EU security standards. This ensures safer smart devices, protecting you from hacking or data leaks. In this respect, we’ve added the following security updates.
-
Default password for the external video unit
Users of VDS devices (external video units) now always need to provide a personal password when addressing the VDS.
- Make your computer with the Niko Home Control programming a trusted device for the Niko Home Control installation
You need to press a button on your connected controller or wireless hub the first time you connect your computer with the Niko Home Control programming software to the Niko Home Control installation.
-
Improved touchscreen authentication
If your touchscreen(s) are connected to the internet, the authentication requirement will be automatically updated after the software upgrade to version 2.23. No actions from your end are required. However, if you have an offline touchscreen or Niko Home Control installation (not connected to the internet), and your offline Niko Home Control installation is updated via the configuration software (for other reasons apart from the upgrade, such as adding new functions or behaviour), then the touchscreen needs an update, too.
This can either be done by:- connecting the touchscreen to internet,
- or update manually via USB stick (see guide: Initial activation or touchscreen software USB upgrade).
As long as the touchscreen update is not done, the upgraded installation will generate a notification to remind you to update your touchscreen. This reminder will appear up until 3 months after you’ve upgraded your installation to 2.23. After this deadline the touchscreen will no longer connect to the system unless you upgrade. If none of the above options are possible in your situation, please contact your installer or our support team.
